Why Does JT’s Coconut Essence call our Oil Cold Pressed Coconut Oil?

The quality and goodness of coconut oil depends on its method of extraction from a mature (brown) coconut. Basically there are two types of extraction; the first being the cold pressing of the copra (the white coconut flesh) and the second method being the boiling of white coconut milk. At JT’s Coconut Essence we use the first method of cold pressing through innovative production methods by highly skilled and dedicated staff from continuous processing which results in an oil of exceptional quality, smooth creamy texture, delicate aroma and taste.

Cold pressing retains all the nutrients and volatile components which the boiling of the coconut milk partially destroys, hence making the “cold pressed” method the best option.

Why is JT’s Coconut Oil Extra Virgin Oil?

We only use organic certified coconuts which are carefully selected to ensure optimum product quality. As no chemicals are used to extract the oil from the copra (cold pressed and sun dried) it retains all its antioxidants, vitamins and fatty acids to make sure you get all the goodness and nutritional benefits of Coconut Oil. For us at JT’s only the highest – grade coconut oil is good enough to be labeled virgin and ultimately, good enough for you.

Why is JT’s Coconut Oil so good for you?

Sourced from Thailand in the Tapi River Valley, sun ripened with organic certifications, a specially developed cold pressed sun dried extraction process with no additives or preservatives, our pure coconut oil comes from the best coconuts that Thailand has to offer. We have also taken our process one step further by developing a Coconut Oil 710ml jar for both cooking and consuming.

What are the benefits of using this oil?

The health benefits of Coconut Oil are well documented and have been used across Asian nations for centuries. Coconut oil is proven to be anti-inflammatory (reducing pain and swelling), antimicrobial (kills germs), antifungal (treats fungal infections) and antiviral (helps to kill off viruses).

JT’s Coconut Oil is also extremely rich in fibre, Vitamins K, D and E coupled with very high levels of antioxidants, especially Ferulic acid and Phenolic acid which are scientifically proven to reduce cell and DNA damage.

Does it assist with my inner health?

With today’s way of life your inner health is now more important than ever and JT’s Coconut Oil takes another step to help you achieve optimum wellbeing. Our Coconut oil is packed full of Medium Chain Fatty Acids (MCFA’s) which are identical to a special group of fats found in human breast milk. Unlike other fats, these acids (E.g. Lauric Acid) do NOT circulate in the bloodstream but are sent directly to the liver where they are immediately converted into energy. Hence, the body uses the fat in coconut oil to produce energy rather than producing fat! The Lauric Acid has also been proven to help reduce the level of “bad” cholesterol which is one of the major factors leading towards a heart attacks and strokes.

So how much Coconut Oil should you take and how should you use it?

Depending on your age and weight, the amount of Coconut oil you should take will vary. A general guide is as follows:

Weight in Kilograms

Number of Tablespoons of Coconut Oil to take daily

Unlike fish oils, Coconut Oils taste great that means that you can easily have three or four spoonfuls a day without feeling any discomfort.

I have heard I should use it in cooking is this correct?

Coconut oil is unsurpassed for use in cooking. It is heat stable, which means that unlike olive oil, it retains all its goodness and health benefits when heated throughout the cooking process. It has a very high smoke point of 177°C making it ideal for frying.
