Ever ridden a bike for a few hours before or gone on a really long bike ride? Well what if you took that to the next (extreme) level and decided to ride a bike around Oz ? 8-9 hours a day for 2 months??! That is exactly what Greg McDermott has decided to do! Why? not only because he is an incredibly talented endurance triathlete but most importantly, he is doing it to raise much needed funds and awareness for Youth Off the Streets.
Youth Off The Streets offers continuous care to young people between the age of 12 – 22. These kids are often homeless, abused, suffering from addiction or in general need of help. The oranisation offers a range of programs including crisis and short term accommodation to long term residential care, counselling, secondary education and rehabilitation.
These programs have been developed in response to the growing needs in many communities over the past 20 years. When young people leave Youth Off the Streets, they leave with a brighter future ahead – That means having a high school education and a job in hand. It means living free from drugs with skills to face the world.
Over the next 79 days, Greg will ride approximately 15,000 kms around Australia averaging 180km daily (8-9hrs) and we will be with him all of the way to keep him hydrated!
JT’s Coconut Essence are so honoured to be supporting this fantastic initiative and a part of Greg’s incredible journey which you can follow here.
